The Great Attractor as Metric Engine Organized Momentum from Compact Objects in the Norma Arm as the Source of Cosmic Bulk Flow

Open access0 citations

Abstract

The ~600 km/s bulk flow of the Local Group toward the Great Attractor remains incompletely explained by gravitational attraction alone. The Dipole Repeller (Hoffman et al. 2017) established a comparable push component; Dark Flow observations (Kashlinsky 2008, 2010) document coherent motion across ~800 Mpc without gravitational explanation; and mass surveys consistently find less matter than the velocity field requires. We propose that an unaccounted component of the observed flow is metric propulsion: spacetime displacement sourced by organized momentum flux (T⁰ⁱ) from compact objects — magnetars, neutron stars, X-ray pulsars — concentrated along the Norma spiral arm in the exact direction of the Great Attractor centroid. The hypothesis is formulated within Momentonics, a momentum-first framework operating within orthodox General Relativity. We apply the Momentonic Scaling Relation, α(f) ≈ ½ + 0.31·f — validated through gauge-invariant observables across 3,750 simulations and adversarial falsification — to estimate collective gravitomagnetic contributions from Norma-arm compact object populations. The anomalous 6.67-hour period of magnetar 1E 161348-5055 is identified as a candidate signature of momentum transfer to the local metric. We derive four testable predictions distinguishing metric propulsion from gravitational attraction: (1) anisotropic velocity correlation with compact object density, (2) directional pulsar spin-down asymmetry, (3) prograde/retrograde lensing asymmetry, and (4) flattened velocity-distance profiles. An honest scaling analysis quantifies a ~17–25 order-of-magnitude gap between known frame-dragging and the observed flow, defining the research program rather than refuting the hypothesis. Three physically motivated amplification mechanisms are identified. No new physics is invoked — only the systematic calculation of collective T⁰ⁱ effects never previously performed for astrophysical compact object populations.
