Reconstructed baryon transition current structure (N(1535) negative parity F2 form factor): Insights from Patterson function analysis
Abstract
This study applies the Patterson function to reconstruct the Pauli‑type transition current density of the N(1535) negative parity F2 resonance. The resulting profile is non‑negative with half‑maximum radius 0.0780 fm. Beyond this core result, the analysis demonstrates how Patterson reconstruction can reveal spatial features of transition currents without relying on parameterized form factor models. The approach emphasizes direct empirical imaging, offering a complementary perspective to lattice QCD and other theoretical frameworks. By extending Patterson methodology from charge and magnetic distributions to transition currents, the study highlights its adaptability and potential to unify diverse aspects of hadronic structure. The findings suggest that further refinements—particularly in precision and application to additional resonances—could establish Patterson analysis as a central empirical tool for exploring nucleon dynamics.
