Institutional Presentation: Journal for Research Cultures

Open access0 citations

Abstract

Institutional presentation announcing the Journal for Research Cultures (JRC), a new open access journal of the Research Institute for Arts and Technology in Vienna, given with co-editor Matthias Tarasiewicz in the second Institutional Presentations session of ISEA2015 under the category Journal Publication. The journal is conceived as a forum in which epistemic cultures at the periphery of established research disciplines can interconnect by comparing the strategies, methodologies and technologies of experimental, transdisciplinary and artistic research rather than their outcomes. Its vision is to consolidate unfolding knowledge communities and to bridge the divide between thought collectives; its mission is to forge synergies between seemingly unrelated fields of research connected by their experimental nature and to stimulate the exchange of knowledge beyond the communication of research results. The presentation outlines the intended publishing model: one volume of two issues per year, an essayist style accessible to the interested lay reader, and open access under a Creative Commons licence in line with the OASPA code of conduct.
