SPD Applied Software Repositories Branch Management Model with CI/CD Integration and Automatic Publishing to CVMFS

Abstract

Abstract This work focuses on developing common repository management rules and a unified GitLab CI/CD workflow for the SPD experiment applied software. During the development, pre-existing version control and management practices were adjusted, a proprietary GitFlow-based branching model was formulated, and automatic publication of new containerized versions of the experiment software, in particular SPDRoot and SPD Sampo, was introduced. Thus, it was possible to improve the quality and reproducibility of software products, facilitate the integration of new developers into projects, automate a wide range of manual operations, which in turn led to a reduction in the preparation time for the release of new software versions.
