Governed Binding and Agentic Reorganization: Provenance-Preserving Event Integration, Scoped Authority, and Recoverable Commitment
Abstract
A revised interpretation can become available across modules while its origins, endorsement and execution authority remain distinct. This paper develops the governed-binding component of Residual Boundary Theory as a typed source-action-event interface. Conditional results cover task-relative summaries, declared lineage, current authority, shared budgets and recoverable use. A finite partition construction characterizes exact future-sufficient summaries; crash countermodels specify when retries require durable deduplication. Repeated-service and deadline-recovery criteria separate useful progress from silent abandonment. The inherited implementation covers 680 lifecycle states and 9,520 transitions, with 73 named mathematical diagnostics; sixteen current extension questions examine additional failure boundaries, including decision-relevant uncertainty, incremental repair, and a joint reservation/retry protocol. Independently implemented original controls tie the typed construction, while several added comparison grids express stipulated shared-rule equivalences. Six external quantitative studies supply adjacent mechanisms, operating conditions and strong baselines. Their performance does not transfer without matched tasks, observations, authority contracts, resources and denominators. The remaining hypothesis is whether explicit relation organization improves attribution, correction or useful recovery beyond equally informed conventional controllers. The present evidence supports an executable assurance specification and conditional mathematics; RBT-specific efficacy, deployment security and phenomenal unity remain unestablished. Publication role. Companion B (about 15,400 words, dated 19 September 2026) develops the downstream agentic architecture of the integrated flagship of Residual Boundary Theory, which is archived separately; Companion A develops representation revision and counterexample-driven conceptual repair, and a separate protocol sets out the prospective empirical programme. Neither authorization nor recovery is pooled into evidence for the flagship's consciousness claims. Numbered Papers 1-6 denote archived technical modules, and the archived parent manuscript is not the current submission. The accompanying supplement archive holds the companion diagnostics (formal, measurement, event, semantic and joint-protocol checks with their reference outputs), the preserved technical-module material for Module 5 including its finite lifecycle models and external evidence ledger, a current source-scope note, and a README, MANIFEST.json and SHA-256 checksums (33 files). The diagnostics check the stated mathematical models; they are not independent empirical confirmations.
