A Modular Platform for Magnetically Guided Injectable Particles

Open access0 citations

Abstract

Abstract: Magnetically guided injectable particles offer a minimally invasive alternative to catheter‑based interventions for delivering therapy to deep or anatomically complex regions such as the brain, spine, and major joints. By injecting particles into upstream vessels and allowing natural blood flow to transport them toward the target, external magnetic fields can bias their movement, increase local concentration, and retain them within the microvasculature. Combined with molecular targeting ligands and disease‑specific payloads, this platform enables precise treatment of tumours, blood clots, inflammation, infection, and other pathological conditions without the need for hardware navigation. Activation through near‑infrared light, alternating magnetic fields, or chemical triggers confines therapeutic action to the target site, reducing systemic exposure. This modular approach integrates established knowledge from nanomedicine, interventional radiology, and magnetic field control into a unified delivery system capable of reaching regions previously inaccessible to conventional tools, with the potential to improve safety, precision, and patient quality of life.
