A Journey Through the Letters

Open access0 citations

Abstract

This book traces the pictographic origins of letters across Phoenician, Hebrew, Arabic, Greek, and Latin. Beginning with the earliest forms, the house, the camel, the palm, the breath, the eye, and the head, it shows that the letters we use today are not arbitrary signs but witnesses of a shared human origin. Language differences appear as surface variations on a single deep structure. Written for a general audience interested in the history of language and the unity of human expression.
