Data and code for "Red noise and evolving signals: a complete frequentist approach to supermassive black hole binary searches with pulsar timing arrays"

Open access0 citations

Abstract

The accompanying programs provide the workflow for synthetic PTA generation, evolving continuous-gravitational-wave signal injection, the timing-model-projected likelihood, joint signal-and-noise optimization using particle swarm optimization, signal-to-noise ratio calculations, the \(\mathcal{T}\) and \(\mathcal{F}_p\) statistics, and ROC-curve analysis. The synthetic arrays were generated with a locally modified version of the third-party FakePTA package. FakePTA source code is not included in this archive; generating new synthetic PTA realizations requires a compatible external FakePTA installation. The supplied compatibility loader allows the archived pulsar data to be read without FakePTA. Instructions and simulation settings are included in the archive.License information: The data, derived data products, figures, and documentation are licensed under the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International License.
