Understanding Seasonal Affective Disorder : An overview on biological basis and treatment of SAD

Abstract

This independent narrative literature review examines seasonal affective disorder with particular focus on it's bioogical mechanisms and potential contributing factors. The review explores the role of photoperiod and circadian rhythm, seretonergic mechanisms, genetic variability , trypthophan and nutritional factors in causing SAD along with the current treatment methods available. While also discussing the current limitations and future research prospects.
