PROMOTING COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT AND POVERTY REDUCTION THROUGH ADULT LEARNING

Abstract

The study covered how adult learning programs can be used in promoting community development in order to reduce poverty. It explained community development, and poverty reduction. The study examined the root causes of poverty and how to ad-dress it. Adult learning was defined as a process of acquiring knowledge, skills and attitudes by adults, typically outside of traditional formal education system. It also explained the types of Adult learning. Benefit of adult learning was mentioned. How to implement community development towards poverty eradi-cation was equally emphasized. Community development and poverty reduction for expanding access to adult learning was explained in detail. The researchers concluded by laying empha-sis on how community development and poverty reduction can be achieved. The suggestion was that the members and stake holders of the community should team up with individuals (philanthropist) and international organizations to attract their assistance in establishing an accessible adult learning centres .They should also sought the assistance of federal , state and lo-cal government in order to establish standard community de-velopment projects . This can help in poverty reduction and also make citizens live good life of prosperity and happiness in its fullness
