The UV-IR Bridge in Gravity: (ver 1.1.2) A Self-Consistent, Resolution-Dependent Backreaction and Interscale-Descent Framework

Open access0 citations

Abstract

This preprint (v.1.1.2) develops a resolution-dependent framework for analyzing how effective gravitational descriptions relate across microscopic and macroscopic scales. Rather than treating gravity’s microscopic weakness and macroscopic dominance as consequences of a single scaling parameter, the framework combines gravitational effective field theory, geometry-dependent coarse-graining, semiclassical and stochastic backreaction, stability, fidelity, and directed interscale descent within one self-consistent architecture. The paper distinguishes pointwise admissibility at an individual resolution from the stronger requirement that descriptions at different resolutions belong to a compatible directed lineage. It introduces a joint admissibility structure based on EFT control, covariant source construction, stability, and fidelity, then formulates interscale descent as a composable relation between effective descriptions. An elementary two-state factorization witness provides a sharp lower bound when a retained description identifies states whose later target predictions differ, motivating a target-relative closure residue: additional relational information sufficient to restore the required prediction. Two worked models illustrate distinct mechanisms of interscale failure and repair. A two-mode Gaussian model demonstrates retained-state information insufficiency and exact restoration by retaining a target-relevant cross-correlation. A complementary field-theoretic model using spherical top-hat coarse-graining diagnoses prescription-relative nonclosure within a declared deterministic, translation-invariant, finite-gain linear map class; its endpoint admissibility is conditional where stability and fidelity have not yet been independently computed. The framework is intended as a structured, falsifiable research program for determining when classical or stochastic geometric descriptions are controlled, faithful, and genuinely descended from finer-scale descriptions. It does not claim to derive classical spacetime from a complete theory of quantum gravity, nor are its individual ingredients claimed to be novel in isolation.
