The synergistic role of stakeholders’ corporate social responsibility in the football business supply chain management framework: a systematic review
Abstract
Although many industries have effectively integrated Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) to boost Supply Chain Management (SCM) performance, its vital link in sports, particularly football, remains underexplored in research, and it is essential to recognize and leverage the role of CSR in football SCM to enhance operational effectiveness and drive positive change in the industry. Therefore, the purpose of this study is to identify the synergistic role of stakeholders’ CSR in the football business SCM framework. The research involved a systematic review of 74 documents published between 2006 and 2025. The PRISMA 2020 guideline and the ATLAS. ti software was also used. Concepts related to the role of CSR activities in the football business and in SCM were identified. The improved role of CSR activities in the football business’s SCM encompasses managerial improvements, value creation, marketing enhancements, sustainable development, attracting and retaining fans, achieving social and cultural outcomes, enhancing stakeholder relations, and improving economic performance. Businesses can grow significantly by integrating stakeholders’ CSR initiatives within an SCM framework. Football academies, schools, producers of goods and services, and governing bodies must work closely with clubs that create football products. This collaboration fosters remarkable synergy, enhancing market positioning and strengthening connections with society, fans, media, and sponsors. As a result, clubs gain greater empowerment, benefiting stakeholders throughout the value chain. This study highlights the synergistic role of SCM in enhancing stakeholder commitment in the football industry, a crucial factor for business success.
