A compact quad-port multiband frequency-diverse antenna system with high isolation for radar and SATCOM applications
Abstract
Abstract A compact quad element multiband frequency diverse antenna with orthogonal heterogeneous geometrical structures is proposed in this paper for wideband wireless communication systems. Isolation among elements is improved using Swastik shaped defected ground structure. Overall dimensions of presented antenna are 60 × 60 × 0.4mm 3 . Antenna elements (M 1 , M 2 , M 3 and M 4 ) achieved operating bands: M 1 element operates from 9.45 – 12.25 GHz, M 2 element operates from 11.49 – 16.18 GHz, M 3 element operates from 7.05 – 8.49 GHz and M 4 operates from 16.47 – 17.89 GHz. The frequency diverse antenna provides multi-band coverage spanning 7–18 GHz through four distinct operating bands across X and Ku frequency bands with isolation greater than 35 dB among elements. It achieved peak gain up to 6.91 dB and radiation efficiency up-to 91.1%.
