Why Classrooms Still Matter

Abstract

This undergraduate course paper summarizes and responds to Julia H. Kaufman’s argument that online education cannot successfully replace in-person learning in K–12 schools. The response largely agrees with Kaufman, emphasizing the importance of classroom structure, immediate feedback, social interaction, and support for students with attention or learning difficulties. It also recognizes that online learning can provide useful flexibility when used as a supplement to classroom instruction. Prepared for ENG 101 at Mohave Community College.
