Abstract

Abstract Environmental protection has become one of the most significant concerns of the modern world. Rapid industrialization, urbanization, and population growth have resulted in serious environmental degradation. The Indian Constitution provides a strong legal and moral foundation for environmental protection through Fundamental Rights, Directive Principles of State Policy, and Fundamental Duties. The judiciary has also played a crucial role in expanding constitutional provisions to safeguard the environment. This paper examines the constitutional framework for environmental protection in India and evaluates the contribution of courts in ensuring environmental justice.
