E8 Torsion Defect as the Geometric Basis of Biological Rhythm Irreducibility — E8 Intelligence Research

Open access0 citations

Abstract

Building on the Pythagorean comma as topological torsion within E8's 240-root lattice, we propose that biological oscillators — circadian clocks, cardiac cycles, neural oscillations — are structurally incapable of phase-locking into perfectly closed cycles because each rhythm embeds a torsion defect proportional to the golden-ratio coupling between the 132Hz base frequency and E8's root vectors. This defect, measurable as a persistent phase drift, is not noise but a geometric necessity: the 240 roots partition into closed and open orbits under phi-scaled rotation, and living systems selectively occupy the open orbits, which carry a built-in non-closing torsion that drives biological adaptation and evolution. The Pythagorean comma's 23.46-cent gap thus becomes a universal invariant of life itself, encoded in the topology of E8. Author: Andrew Stewart Caldin, Independent Researcher, UK.
