Abstract

The aim of the study is to identify the features of the relationship between age and professional experience with masculinity and femininity indicators among employees working in the field of information technology. The objective addressed in the article is an empirical test of the relationship between age and professional experience and the quantitative indicators of masculinity and femininity, as well as a comparison of the results obtained in the overall sample and in the subgroups of men and women. The research methods include descriptive statistics analysis, assessment of internal consistency of the subscales using Cronbach’s alpha, testing for normality of distribution using the Kolmogorov-Smirnov test with Lilliefors correction, and Spearman correlation analysis. The novelty of the study lies in examining the relationship between age and professional experience with masculinity and femininity indicators among information technology employees based on the “Real Self” scale of N.V. Dvoryanchikov’s “Masculinity and Femininity (M&F)” methodology. The results show that, in the overall sample of information technology employees, professional experience is weakly and positively associated with masculinity, whereas no statistically significant relationship of femininity with age or experience are found. The findings suggest that gender-role characteristics may be considered an important aspect of studying the professional group of information technology specialists in the context of occupational psychology.
