Institutional AI Autonomy: Governing Institutional Choice Space under AI Conditions

Abstract

This academically strengthened working paper develops Institutional AI Autonomy as the proposed institutional property of retaining substantive judgement and action in relation to AI-shaped socio-technical arrangements. The framework is conceptual and has not yet been empirically validated. Correction note v2.2.1. This version repairs a packaging error in v2.2: the Zenodo record did not contain the intended academically strengthened source PDF. Duplicate table-of-contents headings were removed and the references were alphabetised. This publication is written in a personal capacity.
