The Buddhadasa Indapanno Archives Knowledge Graph: an Open RiC-O 1.1 Dataset from a Thai Buddhist Archive

Abstract

Data paper. We publish the archival description of the Buddhadasa Indapanno Archives (BIA, Bangkok) as an open dataset conforming to the International Council on Archives' Records in Contexts Ontology (RiC-O) 1.1: 97,852 triples describing 3,728 records, 1,088 record sets, 1,995 record parts and 1,022 physical objects from the papers of the Buddhist teacher Buddhadasa Bhikkhu (1906-1993), whose birth centenary UNESCO commemorated in its Celebration of Anniversaries programme, together with a curated contextual layer of 353 events, 160 persons, 42 corporate bodies, 22 places and 247 dhamma concepts. Every entity dereferences at https://id.bia.or.th/, and more than 13,000 provenance links point to the digitised page that evidences each statement. The dataset is licensed CC BY 4.0 (DOI: 10.5281/zenodo.22115542); a small extension ontology (biax:, 28 terms, DOI 10.5281/zenodo.22114132) covers concepts specific to a Thai Buddhist context, such as monastic ordination and royal title conferral. This paper documents what is in the dataset, how it is modelled, how it was produced and quality-assured, how to access it, and the precise boundary of its licence.
