A Dual Magnetic‐Centrifugal Field Strategy for Orienting Thermal Fillers in High Thermal Conductivity Composites

Abstract

ABSTRACT The exceptional thermal conductivity of 2D nanomaterials is often compromised by their random orientation in composites, which greatly limits the application of such fillers in thermal interface materials field, and this random orientation is determined by extra degrees of freedom and strong viscous interactions with the matrix. Herein, a paradigm‐shift strategy that synergistically couples rotating magnetic field with a modulated centrifugal body force to achieve vertical orientation of 2D fillers has been reported. These oppositely directed body forces establish a stable force‐balance field that synchronously drives the highly oriented axial assembly of graphene and ensures its uniform spatial distribution. The optimized TIMs exhibited a superior thermal conductivity of 12.76 W (m K) −1 , which represents an approximately 19‐fold enhancement compared to the non‐oriented sample, underscoring the critical role of alignment in forming efficient heat conduction pathways. This field‐coupling strategy not only advances thermal management but also provides a versatile platform for microstructure control in advanced composite materials.
