Full‐Spectrum Mechanoluminescence from Ultraviolet‐C to Near‐Infrared via Multi‐Activator Doping in a Single Host

Abstract

ABSTRACT Mechanoluminescence (ML) materials have broad application prospects in the fields of structural health monitoring, stress sensing, and optical anti‐counterfeiting because of their unique ability to directly convert ubiquitous mechanical stimuli into light emission. However, current ML materials are mostly restricted to specific and narrow emission bands, limiting their potential for highly integrated and multiplexed mechano‐photonic devices. Developing a single host matrix capable of highly tunable and broad spectral coverage offers a straightforward solution, yet it remains a critical challenge. Herein, we develop a library of Sr 3 P 2 O 8 ‐based materials that can produce strong emissions spanning ultraviolet C and near‐infrared under both x‐ray and mechanical stimulation, through rational doping with diverse lanthanide and transition‐metal activator ions. Mechanistic investigations reveal that this self‐recoverable ML process is mainly driven by the synergistic effects of interfacial triboelectric fields and localized trap states. By leveraging this spectrally tunable ML (200–1000 nm), this work establishes a versatile platform for advanced applications in a single host material, including structural health inspection, medical sterilization, dynamic tracking, and multi‐channel information anti‐counterfeiting.
