Replication Data for: How Shocks Travel: The Cross-Border Impact of Natural Disasters in Firm Networks

Abstract

Replication package for "How Shocks Travel: The Cross-Border Impact of Natural Disasters in Firm Networks" (IMF Economic Review). The package contains all programs used to construct the estimation samples and to produce every table and figure in the paper, along with documentation of each data-cleaning and processing step, and the publicly available inputs used in the analysis. Two of the underlying data sources are proprietary and cannot be redistributed under the terms of the authors' licenses: firm-to-firm shipment records from S&P Global (Panjiva) and corporate ownership data from Bureau van Dijk (Orbis). Researchers with licensed access to these sources can reproduce all results using the provided code; the README documents the data vintages, fields, and filters required, as well as how to obtain access to each source. The remaining sources, the EM-DAT International Disaster Database and U.S. Census trade statistics, are publicly available.
