The Chants Have Cycled: Structural Convergence Between The Mars Volta's Lyrical Corpus and the Qur'anic Architecture of Formed Agency

Open access0 citations

Abstract

This paper examines the lyrical corpus of The Mars Volta (seven studio albums, 2003--2022) through the interpretive framework developed in two companion papers: a three-level architecture of moral responsibility for formed agents, and a computational ontology grounded in Islamic monotheism (tawhid). Five structural motifs are identified (entity-partnership, generational transmission, beautification, failed sanctuary, cyclical closure) and coded across the corpus, with six of seven albums showing clear positive coding and the seventh (Octahedron) showing partial evidence. The convergence is classified as a Pillar 2 observation (convergence with an independent domain) and the analysis is exploratory. The paper also documents a self-correction in which the analysis recapitulated a previously retracted interpretive framework before the replacement architecture corrected it. Version 1.1 absorbs an advisory peer review. Not externally audited. formed agency, generational transmission, structural convergence, The Mars Volta, Qur'anic exegesis, computational ontology, adversarial architecture, beautification, innate disposition, fitrah, independent articulation, exploratory analysis
