Cultural Heritage and National Transformation in Nigeria: A Study of Dewey's Aesthetic Philosophy

Abstract

This study examines the relationship between cultural heritage and national transformation in Nigeria through the lens of Dewey’s aesthetic philosophy. The problem of cultural neglect has weakened social cohesion, patriotism and the transmission of traditional values necessary for sustainable national development. This paper uses critical analysis to clarify the concepts. This justifies building the theoretical framework on value theory. This study argues that our cultural heritage should not be taken for granted; rather, it should be respected as a valuable instrument for national unity, sustainable development, and social transformation. This study also shows that preserving cultural heritage can strengthen national identity, promote unity, encourage creativity, and foster moral and economic development in Nigeria. This study concludes that cultural heritage is not merely a historical legacy but a dynamic instrument for national reconstruction and future development
