Sparta, Venice, Uros and the Approaches to Security

Abstract

Security is one of the Perennial Aspirations of humanity, but civilisations do not approach it through identical pathways. Sparta, Venice and the Uros of Lake Titicaca reveal three radically different orientations beyond the widespread logic of building walls: security embodied in the formation of human capability; security organised through water, navigation and command of movement; and security grounded in adaptation, mobility, modest possession and ecological competence. These examples open a gate into Kenotomic Thinking. They show how an Approach generates Concepts, how Concepts generate Solutions, and how the visible world emerges downstream as Designs and Substantiations. From this point, the essay gradually opens toward Leitideen, Civilisational Strategy, the asymmetry of ideational change, Kenos, the latent layer of the Denkraum, NESTOR, Civilisational Entropic Drag and Civilisational Renewal. The wall serves throughout as a simple visible object through which the hidden architecture of ideation can be recognised.
