Blocking the Signal: Interrupting Inflammatory Signaling in Atopic Dermatitis
Open access0 citations
Abstract
Learning Objectives Explain how monoclonal antibodies can be used as therapeutic agents to treat disease. Describe the molecular mechanism by which an antibody inhibitor disrupts interleukin signaling pathways. Analyze the three-dimensional structures of IL-4 bound to the IL-4 receptor and dupilumab bound to the IL-4 receptor. Identify and compare the intermolecular forces involved in IL-4–IL-4 receptor interactions versus dupilumab–IL-4 receptor interactions.
