Effect of in Ovo Bovine Colostrum Powder Administration on Embryonic Growth, Yolk Sac Resorption, and Blood Biochemical Profiles in Anadolu-T Broiler Chickens
Abstract
This study evaluated embryonic responses to in ovo administration of bovine colostrum powder (Cp) during late incubation in broiler embryos. A total of 450 fertilized Anadolu-T broiler eggs were randomly allocated to six groups as a non-injected control (NC), a saline-injected control (PC), and groups receiving 1, 2, 3, or 4 mg of Cp per egg. Injections were performed into the amniotic cavity on day 18 of incubation. Embryonic development was assessed on days 18, 19, and 20 of incubation by measuring embryo weight, yolk sac weight, gastrointestinal tract (GIT) weight and length, and selected organ weights. At hatch, chick weight, residual yolk sac weight, and blood biochemical parameters were determined. On day 19, embryo weight was higher in the Cp1 group than in the control groups, and in the Cp4 group than in PC (p0.05).
