Bridging the gap between adoption and impact of cloud-based academic systems in vocational higher education using an augmented UTAUT framework

Abstract

Abstract This study examines the relationship between behavioral intention and actual usage behavior in cloud-based academic systems within a mandatory environment. Extending the UTAUT framework, this study incorporates Trust as an additional predictor, Satisfaction as a mediating variable, and Digital Literacy as a moderating variable. Data were collected from 211 students at an Indonesian Polytechnic and analyzed using PROCESS Macro. The results show that Performance Expectancy, Effort Expectancy, Social Influence, and Trust significantly influence Behavioral Intention. Satisfaction significantly mediates the relationship between Behavioral Intention and Usage Behavior, indicating its critical role in translating intention into actual use. However, Digital Literacy does not significantly moderate the relationship between Performance Expectancy and Behavioral Intention. These findings suggest that in mandatory systems, user intention is primarily driven by perceived benefits and trust, while actual usage is influenced by post-adoption satisfaction.
