FINDING: Antikythera mechanism's missing half reconstructed via AI reveals advanced planetary cycle calculations, including synodic periods and eclipse prediction using modular arithmetic and gear ratios. MATH: - Gear ratios encode Metonic cycle (19 years = 235 synodic months), Saros cycle (18.03 years = 223 synodic months), and Callippic cycle (76 years). - Key ratio: 19/235 ≈ 0.08085 (Metonic) and 223/18.03 ≈ 12.37 (Saros). - Gear tooth counts: e.g., 53:96, 38:48, 64:38, 48:24 — all reducible to rational fractions. - Synodic period of Venus: 584 days; Mars: 780 days; Jupiter: 399 days; Saturn: 378 days — all encoded via gear trains.
