High-gain packaged Ytterbium-doped thin-film lithium niobate large-mode-area waveguide amplifier

Abstract

We report a high-gain packaged Ytterbium-doped large-mode-area waveguide amplifier based on the thin-film lithium niobate platform. Under bi-directional 976 nm pumping, the amplifier delivers a robust fiber-to-fiber net gain of 13.5 dB at 1060 nm and 6.0 dB at 1030 nm for a −10 dBm incident signal, while maintaining a low noise figure of 3.2 dB at 1060 nm. Experimental results demonstrate a broadband net gain of >3.92 dB is maintained over a 50 nm spectral window (1010–1060 nm). This fully packaged module demonstrates high practical readiness, providing an ideal amplification solution for integrated ultrafast laser systems and high-power on-chip light sources.
