Verbal Multi-Word Expressions in the Greek Psalter: Sociolinguistic Variation and Level-of-Speech Changes in a Post-Classical Poetic Corpus

Open access0 citations

Abstract

Manually annotated dataset of verbal multi-word expressions (VMWEs), chiefly support-verb constructions, in three textual layers of the Greek Psalter: the Septuagint (LXX), Apollinaris of Laodicea's hexametric paraphrase, and Manuel Philes' Byzantine metaphrasis, plus comparanda from Classical Greek, the New Testament, and hagiographical literature. Produced through a two-stage lexicographic-first pipeline (DiCoGrA-based candidate extraction followed by expert manual annotation with PARSEME-format categories) to accompany the article "Verbal Multi-Word Expressions in the Greek Psalter" (Digital Studies in Language and Literature).
