Why Cooling Matters

Abstract This essay explores cooling as a possible organising principle of physical reality. Rather than treating cooling as a new fundamental force, it argues that cooling may be understood as a universal condition that allows known forces and processes to produce stable structure. Across cosmology, thermodynamics, star formation, planetary evolution, biological regulation, urban environments, and fusion systems, the ability to lose, redistribute, or control heat repeatedly determines whether matter remains unstable or becomes durable form. The essay develops this idea through established science, analogy, and cautious personal hypothesis, while emphasising falsifiability as the standard that must distinguish useful speculation from unfalsifiable theory.
