An Alternative Interpretation of the de Broglie Matter Wave and Some of Its Implications for Atomic and Molecular Structure

Abstract

This paper presents the novel concept that the decrease in the total energy of an electron as it transitions to a lower energy state within its atom can alternatively release two photons of electromagnetic energy instead of one. This results in an electron that, after emission, is left behind motionless and at a fixed allowed radius from its atom's nucleus. This new photon emission process is seen to give rise to a "Static Electron Atomic Model" or SEAM whose mathematical description eliminates the need for wavefunctions and certain of the quantum numbers. It also leads to a new description of the arrangement of the electron pairs found in the various types of covalent bonds. The electrons in these pairs are predicted to be able to oscillate relative to each other and thereby be able to continuously emit very low energy microwave radiation. An experimental set up is described to detect these electron pair oscillation emission frequencies. The electron pair oscillations are continuously driven by the impacts of their atom with other nearby atoms.
