Could Flexible Pipelines Reduce Reliance on Tanker Trucks?
Open access0 citations
Abstract
This technical concept note explores the potential use of spoolable, flexible pipeline systems for selected petroleum-product transport applications. The concept considers flexible pipelines as a practical option for suitable connections between refineries, storage depots, and nearby distribution facilities where route characteristics, operating conditions, and project economics justify pipeline infrastructure. The note draws on the author’s previous research on composite materials and their applications in the oil and gas industry.
