A REVIEW ON FICUS ELASTICA PLANT PROFILE, CHEMICAL CONSTTUENTS AND USES
Abstract
Ficus elastica Roxb plant is commonly known as rubber plant, its (family Moraceae). It is a widely distributed in Asia and tropical species. Ficus elastica Roxb medicinal plant is cultivated worldwide as an ornamental. From ancient times, this plant has been used in the treatment of various diseases such as gastrointestinal disorders, inflammation, infections and wounds. Recently researchers have been found and reported that Ficus elastica Roxb having potential chemical constituents such as sterols, flavonoids, phenolics and terpenoids. The pharmacological activities of Ficus elastica Roxb are antioxidant, antimicrobial, anti-inflammatory, and antihypertensive effects. In this review articles is covered information related to taxonomy, morphology, phytochemistry, traditional uses and pharmacological properties of F. elastica.
