Bridging Basic Sciences to Clinical Diagnosis

Open access0 citations

Abstract

This cross-sectional study evaluates the relationship between pre-clinical foundational knowledge and clinical diagnostic competency among senior undergraduate medical students. The research assesses how effectively students apply basic sciences such as pathology, physiology, and pharmacology to structured clinical case scenarios. Using validated case vignettes and self-assessment questionnaires, the study aims to identify gaps in knowledge integration, measure diagnostic accuracy, and explore factors affecting clinical reasoning during clerkship years. Findings will provide evidence-based recommendations for curriculum enhancement to better bridge basic science instruction with clinical practice in undergraduate medical education, with specific relevance to medical schools in Sudan and the African region.
