MODEL ADOPTION #1023: REJECT — LEDGER BENCH: Apply filter: Quarterly phase = MANIPULATION — improves win rate from 31.5% — E8 Intelligence Research
Abstract
DECISION: REJECT ELEMENT: The MANIPULATION phase filter is not a concrete, testable edge compatible with E8 geometry timing — it is a calendar-based heuristic that introduces temporal overfitting and cannot be reliably synchronized with Gods-Clock rhythm logic. The +0.5pp win-rate gain (n=1010) is statistically marginal (p ≈ 0.15) and does not survive correction for multiple comparisons across all quarterly phases. The "100% win rate" on n=4 is noise, not signal. EXPECTED IMPACT: Negligible or negative — the filter would reject ~25% of trades, reducing total profit by more than the win-rate gain recovers. The backtest likely suffers from look-ahead bias (quarterly phase boundaries are known ex-post but not ex-ante in live execution). RISK: Phase misidentification due to timezone/calendar drift; rejection of high-probability trend trades that happen to fall in MANIPULATION windows; model complexity without geometric justification. TEST: No test required — the edge is too weak an Author: Andrew Stewart Caldin, Independent Researcher, UK. Part of the E8 Intelligence Research series. Platform: e8intelligence.com
