The World of Steve Angeli: Living with Baby Dinosaurs

Open access0 citations

Abstract

Steve Angeli’s journey is a powerful story of passion, recovery, and faith. From catching lizards in the hills of Oakland to becoming a global authority on the genus Heloderma, his dedication has shaped the modern herpetocultural landscape. In this conversation with Foster Reves, Angeli discusses his philosophy of “conservation through captive propagation” and the personalpath that led him to produce over a thousand of these unique creatures at “Horridum Angeli Reptiles” - captive breeding facility based in Sacramento, California, which specializes in high-quality Heloderma species (gila monsters and beaded lizards) alongside select venomous snakes and terrapins.
