Rewriting the Script: The African Snakebite Institute
Open access0 citations
Abstract
The African Snakebite Institute (ASI) was founded in 2012 by Johan Marais, an experienced and renowned South African herpetologist and naturalist. As the author of seminal publications such as ‘A Complete Guide to the Snakes of Southern Africa’ and ‘Snakes and Snakebite in Southern Africa’, Marais developed the project into a prominent and respected educational institution. Headquartered in Pretoria, the ASI has expanded from a small-scale operation into a structured corporate training centre, providing comprehensive educational resources in both traditional and digital formats to alter entrenched narratives surrounding reptiles.
