Holy Mary, Seat of Wisdom

Abstract

This article examines the Marian title Seat of Wisdom (Sedes Sapientiae) on the basis of its biblical and theological foundations, especially the mystery of the Incarnation and Mary’s divine motherhood. It also explores its development in the Tradition of the Church, its presence in the liturgy and in Christian spirituality, as well as its principal figures and symbolism. Finally, it delves into its Christological and spiritual meaning, showing how this title expresses Mary’s unique relationship with Jesus Christ, the eternal Wisdom of the Father, and her maternal mission of leading the faithful to Him.
