Constructing Intrinsic Inorganic Superhydrophobicity With Omnipotent Robustness Through Epitaxially‐Grown Fluoride‐Free Ceramics
Abstract
ABSTRACT Materials with superhydrophobicity have been persistently sought after for their extensive improvements in energy, environment, and other significant fields over the last few decades. Nevertheless, surface modification remains the mainstream approach to achieve low surface energy, while constructing intrinsic superhydrophobicity to overcome omnipotent robustness constraints including mechanical, thermal and chemical durability in fluoride‐free systems remains a fundamental challenge, severely astricting further industrial applications. Herein, epitaxially‐grown lamellar B‐C‐N ceramics with convincing intrinsic superhydrophobicity are massively synthesized and subsequently verified for their omnipotent robustness. The properties benefit from the C hybridization weakening the H‐π interaction between water and the substrate, through which the optimal material composition is identified, and reversible superwettability is also realized. Based on the processable and robust performance from specific surface chemistry, the feasibility of applying the material across liquid manipulation to non‐stick pans is demonstrated as inspiration for industrial applications. Our discovery not only cleans the road for next‐generation robust superhydrophobic material design, but advances progress in related domains as well.
