The Layered Semantic Encoding System: Position-Typed Semantic Records with Dual Textual and Matrix Serialization

Open access0 citations

Abstract

The Layered Semantic Encoding System (LSES) is a self-contained architecture for converting bounded source meanings into compact, reversible semantic records and rendering them through either a technical textual profile or a geometric visual profile. Its central mechanism is position-typed semantics: encoded values derive their exact interpretation from field position, registry version, modifier scope, repetition, relational structure, and rendering context rather than corresponding to fixed words. LSES defines compact C5 and full K8 semantic records and introduces two equivalent public serializations: Technical-32 (T32), a strict Base32-compatible textual representation, and Matrix-32 (M32), a neutral geometric representation in which five-bit values are expressed as structured 2 × 3 matrix tiles. A registry-free pattern signature additionally permits repetition, symmetry, adjacency, transition structure, modifier patterns, and Hamming relationships to be examined before semantic vocabulary is resolved. A Python reference implementation was computationally evaluated across one million exact T32 round trips, one million numeric-envelope round trips, and one million M32 round trips, together with modifier, compound-record, malformed-input, checksum, bounded raster-noise, and authenticated-envelope tests. An optional S32 mode applies Argon2id-derived keys and ChaCha20-Poly1305 authenticated encryption before serialization. The work distinguishes exact recovery of canonical semantic records from controlled natural-language reconstruction and presents LSES as a semantic representation, visual serialization, and pattern-aware decoding architecture rather than as a replacement for established cryptographic primitives.
