Verification of Cooling Performance of Internal Fan in High-Speed Induction Motor

Abstract

The cooling performance of high-speed induction motors plays a crucial role in their stability and durability. Enhancing the cooling efficiency of the motor, including internal cooling ducts and fans, is essential for design and operation. In this study, experiments were conducted to improve the cooling performance of the motor by introducing a high-volume fan. The performance of the internal fan was evaluated through airflow tests, while the impact of increased fan volume on cooling efficiency was quantitatively analyzed using internal flow measurements, temperature rise tests, and computational fluid dynamics. The results indicate that installing the upgraded fan increases the inflow into the motor by approximately 4.7% and reduces the average temperature rise of the winding by about 2.6K.
