Immediate Dental Implant Placement in Mandibular Premolar Root Stumps after Extraction Using a CBCT-Guided Approach: A Clinical Case Report
Abstract
AbstractBackground: Immediate implant placement into fresh extraction sockets has emerged as a predictable treatment modality that preserves alveolar bone, shortens treatment duration, and improves patient comfort. Cone beam computed tomography (CBCT) has further enhanced the accuracy and safety of implant placement by allowing three dimensional evaluation of anatomical structures and bone availability.Case Presentation: A 30 year old male patient presented with root stumps in relation to mandibular right first and second premolars (44 and 45). Clinical and radiographic examination including CBCT evaluation confirmed adequate bone volume for immediate implant placement. Following atraumatic extraction of the root stumps, immediate implant placement was performed using CBCT-guided planning. Satisfactory primary stability was achieved in both implant sites with favorable postoperative healing.Conclusion: Immediate implant placement in mandibular premolar extraction sockets using a CBCT guided approach is a predictable and minimally invasive treatment option when appropriate case selection and surgical protocol are followed. CBCT significantly improves diagnostic accuracy and surgical precision, thereby enhancing implant success.
