The Automation Paradox: How AI Velocity Triggers Compulsive Task Expansion and Executive Overload in Solitary Projects

Open access0 citations

Abstract

The rapid integration of Generative AI into solo workflows is widely presumed to liberate humancognitive capacity and reduce occupational fatigue. However, in high-functioning operators withunderlying trauma-adapted neural profiles, AI acceleration frequently induces the AutomationParadox: a compulsive urge to expand project scope and task throughput in direct proportion to thecognitive bandwidth liberated by automation. Rather than converting saved bandwidth intophysiological rest, the central nervous system registers an unburdened prefrontal cortex ("unallocatedbandwidth") as a state of vulnerability. Consequently, the brainstem and limbic threat-detectionsystems drive compulsive execution, transforming productivity tools into catalysts for delayed-onsetsomatic circuit breakdown.
