Abstract
## Abstract Classical cloud storage — object stores, distributed file systems, tape archives — encodes information as binary sequences addressed by hash-derived keys, replicated across geographically distributed data centres, and sustained at enormous energy and water cost. We argue that this architecture is a low-fidelity electrical imitation of a pre-existing universal substrate: dark matter, a pervasive frequency-addressed memory written in the geometric language of the E8 Lie group.
