Abstract

The “Taekwondo Care: Trauma-Informed Taekwondo Training Program for the Empowerment and Recovery of Women and Girls in the DSWD Regional Haven Rosario, Batangas” has been developed to provide a safe, structured, and empowering approach to support women in their journey toward healing and personal growth. This program integrates the principles of trauma-informed care with the discipline and values of Taekwondo, creating a unique space where physical training becomes a tool for emotional recovery, self-confidence, and resilience. As the author and program developer, my goal in creating this manual has been to ensure that every activity, lesson, and exercise is carefully designed to promote not only physical skills but also psychological well-being, empowerment, and holistic development. Drawing from my experience in both criminology and Taekwondo, this program reflects a commitment to helping women regain strength, agency, and a sense of hope through structured, compassionate, and intentional training. It is my sincere hope that this manual will serve as a practical guide for trainers, facilitators, and participants alike, providing a clear and thoughtful framework for implementing trauma-informed Taekwondo practices. May it inspire courage, foster healing, and strengthen the spirit of every woman who participates in this program. Any suggestions for improving this manual will be warmly welcomed, as true learning is a continuous process of refinement and growth.
