Abstract
The article examines the process of establishing the Turkestan Circleof Archaeology Loverswhichwas engaged inscientific,historical,archaeological, and ethnographic research of the region during the periodof the Turkestan Governor-Generalship's existence. The circumstancesof the circle's founding are analyzed, as are the views of the Turkestan Governor-General A. V. Vrevsky,who was its honorary chairman during its creation, and the positions of N.P. Ostroumov and V. V. Barthold, who took an active part in its organization.The study is based on the works of B. V. Lunin, the circle's charter, archival documents, andmodern historical research.
