Archaeological Survey of Tactical Areas 1B, 1F, and 2C, JBMDL

Abstract

On behalf of the U.S. Air Force Civil Engineer Center, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Baltimore District contracted AECOM, Inc. to complete a Phase II NRHP eligibility testing of five archaeological sites (28BU532, 28BU553, 28BU635, 28BU680 and 28BU681) at JB MDL, Pemberton Township, Burlington County. This study was completed in accordance with Section 110 of NHPA and NJHPO guidelines for archaeological survey. Completed between September 2023 and February 2024, field investigations included pedestrian survey and excavation of 601, 15-meter, 7.5-meter, and 3-meter interval, 30cm-diameter shovel tests and 15, 1m2 test units. The Phase II survey recommended four prehistoric sites (28BU532, 28BU635, 28BU680 and 28BU681) not eligible for inclusion in the NRHP. The Phase II survey recommended one historic site, 28BU553, eligible for inclusion in the NRHP.
