Stability as a Synchroauthentic Manifestation of the Norm of Harmony and the Regularities of the Source of Life

Abstract

Stability is commonly associated with the preservation of a system's state, structure, or essential functions under changing conditions. However, for living, adaptive, organizational, ecological, technological, and other complex systems, stability cannot be reduced to immobility or resistance to change. A viable system may undergo continuous transformation while preserving the relationships and mechanisms necessary for its continued functioning, regeneration, adaptation, and development. (von Bertalanffy, 1968; Wiener, 1961). This paper develops a Vitological interpretation of stability as a synchroauthentic manifestation of the Norm of Harmony and the regularities of the Source of Life. Within Vitology, the Norm of Harmony characterizes a condition of sufficient coordination among system elements, relationships, functions, and processes necessary for maintaining and restoring viability. Synchroauthenticity is considered as the dynamic correspondence and coordination of Meaning, State, and Action with the regularities of the Source of Life. From this perspective, stability is not defined by the preservation of an identical configuration. It emerges through the capacity of a system to maintain or restore coordinated relationships while its internal state and external environment change. Feedback, self-regulation, regeneration, adaptation, and development therefore become interconnected mechanisms through which dynamic stability can be maintained. The proposed approach distinguishes stability from rigidity and suggests that transformation itself may contribute to stability when it restores or strengthens the Norm of Harmony. Stability can therefore be understood as an ongoing process in which the regularities supporting viability are synchroauthentically manifested through different functions, relationships, processes, and levels of the system. This interpretation provides a conceptual basis for connecting stability with the broader Vitological framework of viability and for investigating how systems preserve their essential organization while simultaneously remaining capable of regeneration, adaptation, and development.
